Attitudes Expected of Worship Team Members
Trinity Fellowship Church is not just looking for volunteers, but people called by God to serve in this area. The attitude of humble servanthood, working for God, not for the church, seeing it as a privilege and a responsibility – that is what we are looking for.
Here’s the difference:
- If it’s about you, rehearsal is looked upon as another commitment you are obligated to fulfill. If you’re called by God then rehearsal is another opportunity to be used by… and bless God.
- If it’s about you, constructive criticism will be received with indignation. If you’re called by God you will be grateful and welcome criticism because your desire is to be the best you can be.
- If it’s about you, there will be minimal effort. If you’re called by God, you’ll put in maximum effort.
- If it’s about you, the talents of others will threaten you. If you’re called by God you will feel secure in God’s direction, call and giftedness in your life.
- If it’s about you, then outside practicing won’t be a priority. If you’re called by God you will come to practice and worship as prepared as possible.
- If it’s about you, adversity and discouragement will cause you to quit. If you’re called by God then you will dig in and persevere.
- If it’s about you, you will be oblivious to the needs of the ministry. If you’re called by God, you’ll pray over the needs of the ministry.
- If it’s about you, you will be oblivious to your clothing choices and how they affect the congregation. If you’re called by God you’ll be keenly aware of your wardrobe choices and make sure you are not a distraction to worship and don’t draw attention to yourself.
- If it’s about you, you’ll be prone to jealousy of others. If you’re called by God you’ll praise God for distribution gifts and talents as He chooses. If it’s about you, you’ll avoid resolving relational conflict. If you’re called by God you will seek to resolve conflict to preserve the unity of the team and the ministry of the church.
- If it’s about you, your main source of fulfillment is your own talents and abilities. If you’re called by God knowing that being used by God is the most fulfilling thing you can do with your life.
- If it’s about you, then you can’t handle situations that will stretch you. If you’re called by God you’ll respond to God’s call with a humble dependence on Him.
Expectations of Worship Team Members
- Rehearsals, Attendance, and Participation
Attend rehearsals on time and well prepared. Participate in team devotions, sharing and prayer time and help love and care for team members. Come early to rehearsals and worship services to set-up and tear-down together as a team. - Team Training and Worship Development
Attend occasional training, team building and social events for worship team members as scheduled by the Deacon of Worship for Trinity Fellowship Church. - Length of Service
Commit to a 12 month period of time for the assigned worship team. Following each 12 month period both the team member and team leader can decide if it’s time to end the commitment or renew for another year. - Worship Service
Serve once a month to lead Sunday Worship with your team and be willing to assist other worship leaders as requested, if available, and serve the music/worship needs of the church at varying frequencies depending on need. - Worship Triangle
Allow the worshiper to complete the Triangle of Worship – Ultimately the goal is for the congregation to completely not notice the lead worshipers and only focus on God and God alone. Our job is to do everything we can to facilitate that movement and get out of the way…thus completing the triangle.

What is Worship?
“True worship is the active response of humility by one cleansed by Christ’s blood in exalting God, ascribing to Him all worth, and praising Him for His works. It is our spirit being touched by God’s Spirit and our response of bringing our bodies, our possessions and our praise before Him as sacrifices.” - Gerhard deBock
*Definition based on study of Biblical concepts of worship.
Musicians Needed at Trinity Fellowship
Trinity Fellowship Evangelical Free Church seeks to be a highly participatory church when it comes to worship. In other words, we want people who God has gifted in vocal and instrumental music, sound, lighting, computer technology, dance, drama, etc. etc. etc.
One key component to a unified ministry, beyond individual musical giftedness and abilities, is the importance of individual giftedness fitting the needs of the team and being able to flow within a particular team. Some people are very gifted musicians and/or vocalists, but for one reason or another (vocal range, musical style, etc) they have trouble flowing with the team. Musical fit and flow within the team is a two way street. At some point the leadership of the team may decide that temporary or permanent sabbatical from the team is necessary due to the direction of the team or needs of a particular week, emphasis or focus. Additionally, the team member may feel that their time has come to an end on the team for any reasons. Either decision will be respected and accepted…love wins.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of musicians needed at Trinity Fellowship Church:
