DAILY WORKOUT 3

Daily Scripture & Questions

II Chronicles 27; Isaiah 9-12 Why did Jotham become mighty?  Isaiah looks to the future like it is already as good as done.  The question of who the foreseen child is ultimately is answered in Isaiah 9:6 - it is God Himself (in the person of His Son, Jesus).  Isaiah 9:8-10:4 speaks against the Northern Kingdom of Israel, while 10:5-19 rebukes Assyria, whom God uses to discipline them.  What is Assyria rebuked for?  "In that day" begins the section after 10:20 - how does the promise of a remnant encourage them?  The Messiah is presented as coming in what way in chapter 11?   Did Jesus accomplish all of this during His first coming or is some of it still to come?  Rejoice with Israel with what Isaiah wrote in chapter 12.

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions

Read Isaiah 11:1-9. This is describing the branch that comes from the stump of Jesse - the promised Messiah in the line of David. We know Him as Jesus. Have all of the promises of this passage already taken place? Since they will be fulfilled when Jesus returns, does it make sense to pray, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus"?

Biblical Prayer Focus

Jeremiah 10:23-24 I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps. Correct me, O LORD, but in justice; not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.

Admit to God that you are not in control . . . you do not direct your own steps. Ask the Lord to correct you but to do it gently. Seek Him for a teachable spirit that accepts correction.
