Daily Scripture & Questions:
II Samuel 11:1-12:31; I Chronicles 20:1-8 What progression of sinful choices do you see in David's choices in II Samuel 11?  How can David be outraged at Nathan's account and not realize that it is parallel to his own life?  How can II Samuel 12:23 be an encouragement to those who have lost infants to death?  Why would the chronicler omit the well-known sin of David with Bathsheba and Uriah?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions:
Read II Samuel 12:1-14. David committed great sins. What do verses 9 and 14 tell about David's heart attitude that went before these sins? How does sin make us blind to doing even more sin?

Biblical Prayer Focus:
Psalm 13:1-4 How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me? Consider and answer me, O LORD my God; light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

The Bible is honest about how hard suffering is. Pray for those you know who are moaning in their spirits, "How long?" Ask our gracious Heavenly Father to give them assurance and hope that He knows what they are going through and will not abandon them, even when it feels like He has.
