I Kings 12:1-14:31 What was Rehoboam's folly?  Even as we consider this, remember that the ultimate reason for the kingdom's division was Solomon's divided heart and apostasy.  What was the great sin of Jeroboam?  Can we just remake Biblical truth and worship to fit our circumstances?  What is the lesson for the prophet who caved into the pressure from an older man who lied to him (13:11 ff)?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions:
Read I Kings 12:25-33. What fake replacements does Jeroboam, King of the Northern Ten Tribes, put into place? Did it all seem to make sense to him? Did it make sense to God? Is what makes sense to us the final decider of whether something is right or wrong?

Biblical Prayer Focus:
Psalm 119:36-38 Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain! Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways. Confirm to your servant your promise, that you may be feared.

Ask God to give you a loathing and disdain for selfish gain and worthless things. Seek His help in guarding your eyes and heart from focusing on evil things.
