Daily Scripture & Questions:
I Chronicles 1:1-2:55 Chronicles was compiled at the end of the exile which was much later in history. Its purpose was to give a theology of revival that the people needed as they returned to the land. These two chapters begin the extensive genealogical list of the tribes of Israel. We will punctuate the reading of this with looking at a number of the Psalms every other day. Why would a sense of "roots" like we gain from these lists be important to the exiles as they returned to the land?
Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions:
Read I Chronicles 2:3, 7. How were Er and Achan singled out? What do you hope people will say about you 100 years from now? Do you think it will be a good sentence or a sentence that you messed up? Why so?
Biblical Prayer Focus:
Luke 22:44-46 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow, and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
Jesus agonized in prayer and yet so often we do not. Ask the Lord to help you be focused and alert in prayer
so that you won't enter into temptation to betray or desert Him.
