Daily Scripture & Question
Micah 1:1-7:20 Micah prophesied roughly at the same time as Isaiah. His theme is that the Lord, who is Judge, will scatter His people. The Lord is also presented as the Shepherd-King and in covenant, faithful love, He will forgive His people. Did the people want to hear the truth (2:6, 11)? What was the problem with the heads, priests, prophets (3:11)? Chapter four takes place when? Note the similarity to Isaiah 2. From where will the future Shepherd-King come from (5:2-5)? What is it that the Lord requires (6:6-8)? Rejoice that the wicked will be destroyed but that the righteous will await God's vindication and are able to trust in His covenant, faithful love (7:18-20).
Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions
Read Micah 5:1-5. Bad things are going to happen to God's people because of their sin. Yet, God had a plan (see 4:12). From where will God's Shepherd-King come from? Who is this Shepherd-King?
Biblical Prayer Focus
Luke 21:34-36 But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.
Pray for the Lord's help in keeping watch, remembering the soon return of the Lord Jesus. Ask that He help you not to let your heart be weighed down with distractions. Seek His forgiveness if you have let the cares of life or your attempts to "escape" the pain choke out your faith.
