Daily Scripture & Question:
I Kings 15:1-24; II Chronicles 13:1-16:14 As we begin reading about the kings, note that the Northern Kingdom (Israel) will have no good kings and that the Southern Kingdom (Judah) will have some good and some bad. Note the reason why these kings are rated good or bad. The Chronicles then zoom in with more depth on the kings of Judah. As a history book teaching about revival, what can we learn from these accounts?
Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions:
Read II Chronicles 16:1-14. Asa, in his youth, had seen God win the battles when the odds were tremendously against them. What seems to have changed as he grew older? How is this a warning for us as we grow older?
Biblical Prayer Focus:
1 Corinthians 1:4-9 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge - even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you - so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rejoice in the spiritual gift(s) God has given you. If you are uncertain what they are, ask Him to help you find out. Then ask that the Spirit would empower you to enrich others through your gift(s).
