Daily Scripture & Questions:

Isaiah 28:1-30:33 In chapter 28, the Northern Kingdom (Ephraim) is led by drunkards who mock the simplicity of Isaiah's message (28:9-10).  In the Southern Kingdom, God lays the cornerstone.  He promises that while the Assyrians will lay siege, that he will deliver them.  The great challenge is whether to trust in God's promises or to run down to Egypt for some help (30:1-5).   Is your fear of God only a commandment taught by men (29:13)?  Are you embracing, with hope, that the meek will, in that day, obtain fresh joy (29:18)?  In what aspects of your life is God calling you to quietness and trust (30:15)?

Family Devotions—Scripture & Questions:

Read Isaiah 30:8-18. What do the rebellious children say to the prophets and seers? What will they face according to verse 14? Where can you find strength and be saved (verse 15)? Do you want to really follow God, or do you just want God to bless your plans?

Biblical Prayer Focus:

Psalm 130:3-6 If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.
Thank the Lord for His amazing forgiveness. Stand in reverent awe before Him and wait for His clear leading.
