Daily Scripture & Questions

Jeremiah 14:1-17  27 Jeremiah doesn't delight in the words of judgment he preaches, but rather prays for God's mercy (14:7).  The prophets and priests of his day "ply their trade" (14:18), but it is worthless.  Why?  God will not relent according to 15:1-9.  Why not?   Remember, Manasseh repented late in life (see II Chronicles 33:1-20) but that didn't undo all of the evil that he created.  Though much of Jeremiah's message is judgment, especially referring to the captivity of Babylon, he also speaks of hope (see 16:14-21).

Biblical Prayer Focus

Psalm 141:3-4 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! Do not let my heart incline to any evil, to busy myself with wicked deeds in company with men who work iniquity, and let me not eat of their delicacies!"

Ask the Lord to help you watch what you say and to be careful not to be taken in by the evil actions and gossip of others.
